THE FOUR ADORATIONS



At Sunrise

-Face the East, make the Sign of the Enterer (1 inhale standing upright, 2 step 
left foot forward, 3 thrust hands forward and exhale) then stand upright with 
your arms up as if you were supporting a heavy pole above your head, 
representing the element of Air.

-Visualize yourself imbued with the color yellow and filled with the qualities 
of air: heat and moisture.  In a loud voice (if possible; if not, then silently) 
pray:

Hail unto You, Ra in Your rising, Hail
unto You, Ra in Your strength. Who
travels over the heavens in Your bark.
At the uprising of the Sun.  Thoth
stands in his splendor at the prow, And
Ra-Hoor abides by the helm.  Hail unto
You from the abodes of the night.

-Finally, stamp on the ground one time with your left foot and bring your left 
forefinger to your lips as is telling someone to be quiet.  This is known as the 
Sign of Silence, or the Sign of Horus.

At Noon

-Face south, make the sign of the enterer.  Form the triangle of manifestation 
(thumbs pointing towards each other with the tips of your index fingers 
touching; your hands forming a triangle), only hold it slightly above your head, 
representing the element of Fire.

-Visualize yourself imbued with the color red and filled with the qualities of 
fire: heat and dryness.  Pray:

Hail unto You, Hathor in Your triumph,
Hail unto You, Hathor in Your beauty,
Who travels over the heavens in Your
bark at the mid-course of the Sun.  As
Thoth stands in splendor at the prow,
And Ra-Hoor abides by the helm, Hail
unto You from the abodes of morning.

-Make the sign of silence.


At Sunset

-Face west, make the sign of the enterer.  Form the triangle with your hands, 
only, do it over your stomach with the palms towards you, the thumbs at the top 
and the fingers pointing down.  This position represents the element of Water. 
Thus, you have a downward pointing triangle in front of your stomach.

-Visualize yourself imbued with the color blue and filled with the qualities of 
water: cold and moisture.  Pray:

Hail unto You, Temu in the setting, Hail
unto You, Temu in Your Joy, Who
traverses the heavens in Your bark at
the down-going of the Sun. As Thoth
stands in his splendor at the prow, And
Ra-Hoor abides by the helm, Hail unto
You from the abodes of day.

-Make the sign of silence.


At Midnight

-Face the north, make the sign of the enterer.  Then step forward with your left 
foot and raise your right hand above your head, palm forward, as if greeting.  
This represents the element of Earth.  -Visualize yourself imbued with the color 
brown and filled with the qualities of earth: cold and dryness. Pray:

Hail unto You, Khephera in Your hiding,
Hail unto You, Khephera in Your silence,
Who traverses the heavens in Your bark
at the midnight hour of the sun.  As
Thoth stands in Your splendor at the
prow, And Ra-Hoor abides by the helm,
Hail unto You from the abodes of the
dark.

-Make the sign of silence.
