From: Hugh Read
Subj: ALOHA, Serge King — a full moon blessing

The only Temple of Peace worth building
Is in your heart, Serge
Is in the human heart
In your students hearts

Peace can not be won with money, Serge
Peace can not be bought
Nor can peace be sold
But peace must be earned

In loving, selfless service to us all
Giving, regiving
Just for the Joy of It
THAT is Aloha

Aloha is never prosperity, Serge
Bought with the money
Tinkling in your pocket
Aloha is free

Giving, regiving in poverty
Sings an ancient song
Full of Joy, Bliss and Love
The true coin of Peace

A so is giving, regiving in wealth
A thing of beauty
Filled with ancient glory
Unsurpassable

With blessings and thanks, I give you this gift
May it touch your heart
And open your heart
May it touch all hearts

Opening
An Opening Blessing

AN OPENING BLESSING
(From the American Indian Tradition)

A Native American tradition called for blessing a gathering by invoking the
powers of the six directions. This morning, we will repeat this brief
invocation with the help of the traditional Indian smudge sticks.

(Lights the sticks, extinguishes the flames, and uses the sticks to brush smoke
in the directions indicated.)

(Below) We call on the power of Mother Earth, the Great Turtle, strong support
for all humankind, bring to us patience and the ability to take one step at a
time. Powers of the Earth, be with us!

(South) Powers of the South, Sacred Mouse, teacher of Trust and Innocence.
Let us find again our innocent eyes, our playful trust in each other and in
other humans. Powers of the South, the Mouse, be with us!

(West) Powers of the West, place of Intuition and of the power of woman, Great
Bear, bringer of dreams. Teach us the ability to go inside ourselves and
discover the truth within. Powers of the West, Great Bear, be with us!

(North) Powers of the North, home of the Great Buffalo, spirit of wisdom and
knowledge. Bring us the wisdom to share with each other and to provide for one
another. Powers of the North, Buffalo, be with us!

(East) Powers of the East, come, source of light and illumination, Eagle,
creature of great heights. Give us the gift of sight, that we may see clearly
the path ahead. Powers of the East, Eagle, be with us!

(Above) Powers of the Sky, Great Spirit, come, bring all healing and infinite
guidance. Sun that shines bright upon all our days. Powers of Earth, of south,
west, north, and east, be with us as the sun in the sky!

(Turns to the audience.) The traditional blessing of power came through the
scenting of others with the smoke from smudge sticks like these, composed of
sage, cedar or other substances. As I have ceremonially blessed this service,
now let each of you do the same to the other.

(Each person uses the smudge stick on one other person.)

#1: Lord and Lady,
Bless me as I sleep
Keep me safe within your arms
As round me night time creeps
I ask you also, if you will,
To watch over the ones I love-
here’s my list of those who need
Some blessings from above.

Blessings on…

#2: Bright light, White light
Take away my fright
Don’t let the darkness scare me,
There’s nothing here to fear.

Let me sleep the whole night long,
For I am safe in here.
White Light, Bright Light
Protect me through the night

This should be done cupping hands as if holding a ball of white light. Toss
ball in air and imagine it bursting to fill the whole room with protection.)

BLESSING OF A TRAVELLER

Preparation: the chalice should be filled with wine, anointing oil is
needed.

The person being blessed stands in front of the altar with their
back to it. They cross their wrists while holding them close to their
breast. The Priest(ess) stands in front of them and says:

“Artemis, queen of night
In all your beauty bright,
Shine on us here,
And with your silver beam
Unlock the gates of dream;
Rise bright and clear.

On Earth and sky and sea,
Your magic mystery
Its spell shall cast,
Wherever leaf may grow,
Wherever tide may flow,
Till all be past.

O secret queen of power,
At this enchanted hour
We ask your boon.

May fortune’s favor fall
Upon true witches all,
O Lady Moon!

The Priest(ess) kneels before her and gives her the Five Fold Kiss; that is,
s/he kisses her on both feet, both knees, womb or phallus, both breasts, and the
lips, starting with the right of each pair. S/He says, as s/he does this:

“Blessed be thy feet, that have brought thee in these ways.
Blessed be thy knees, that shall kneel at the sacred altar.
Blessed be thy sex, without which we would not be.
Blessed be thy breasts, formed in strength and in beauty.
Blessed be thy lips, that shall utter the Sacred Names.”

For the kiss on the lips, they embrace, length to length, with their feet
touching each others. When the priest(ess) reaches the womb, the recipient
spreads her arms wide, and the same after the kiss on the lips. Then the
Priest(ess) touches her with his right forefinger on her right breast, left
breast, and womb, repeats the set and finally the right breast. The Priest(ess)
steps backwards. The Priest(ess) then makes an X mark on the initiates forehead,
breast and genitals while saying:

“May your mind be free.
May your heart be free.
May your body be free.”

The Priest(ess) holds the chalice close to their heart and feeds power into the
wine. When they can feel it glow, it is ready. S/He says:

“All life is your own,
All fruits of the Earth
Are fruits of your womb,

Your union, your dance.
Lady and Lord,
We thank you for blessings and abundance.

Join with us, Feast with us, Enjoy with us!
Blessed Be.”

The Priest(ess) and the person share the wine. The priest(ess)says:

“Artemis, protector of youths,
Look down upon this person,
Protect them and help them.

Athena, grey eyed goddess of wisdom,
Give this person the understanding to chose the right course.

Manannan and Poseidon, keepers and watchers of deep waters,
Grant fair winds, and following seas as they travel through your
domains.

Mercury, god of travellers,
Protect this person from those who would beset them.

The Priest(ess) says:

“When you are frightened, remember this chant:

“I must not fear.
Fear is the mind killer.
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn my inner eye to see it’s path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

“Blessed Be”

Final kiss on forehead.

BLESSING THE EARTH FOR PLANTING

O gentle Air, we do come before Thee
To ask that your gentle tender breezes kiss
The plants that will come forth.

O fearful Fire, we do come to ask that
Your hot heat be but a gentle warmth
To help the plants grow.

O Water of Life, we do come before Thee
To ask your gentle waters to bring life
To the tender plants that come forth.

O Great Mother, let thy dark womb care
For the tender seeds, to push them up when
The time is right for the plants to come into full bloom.

We do thank Thee Diana. Mother of All Living Things and Giver of Life.

Blessed Be.

Blessings on this fine machine,
May its data all be clean.
Let the files stay where they’re put,
Away from disk drives keep all soot.
From its screen shall come no whines,
Let in no spikes on power lines.
As oaks were sacred to the Druids,
Let not the keyboard suffer fluids.
Disk Full shall be nor more than rarity,
The memory shall not miss its parity.
From the modem shall come wonders,
Without line noise making blunders.
May it never catch a virus,
And all its software stay desirous.
Oh let the printer never jam,
And turn my output into spam.
I ask of Eris, noble queen,
Keep Murphy far from this machine.

Daily
DAILY INVOCATION & BLESSING

Thou art the King who reigns within,
The jester and the Friar,
The maiden child, innocent and bold,
The mother, crone and liar.

Thou art the meaning of success,
The flash that doeth inspire,
The holy beam of golden light,
The flickering of the fire.

Thou are the glory of the day,
The beautiful song of birds,
The light that glowest in the dark,
The poet, and the words.

And every single day I see,
In every star that shines,
With fear and wonder, joy and love,
That thee and me combines.

For in the end we are one,
The Lady and the Lord,
The spirit and the great God,
The truth I’m moving toward.

So in the day that lies ahead,
To every man and tree,
To members of the fairy lands
Bright blessing be to we.

Female Wine Blessing
FEMALE WINE BLESSING

The Goddess calls originate from an all-female version I wrote of the Dedication
ritual of the Odyssian tradition. The original was written by Richard and Tamarra
James. This version follows the structure of the original fairly closely, and
maintains some of the original lines, so if you like it, send your compliments to
Richard as well as to me.

Ditto for the Wine Blessing, as it is a modified version of the Odyssian standard
WB.

One priestess represents the Moon Goddess (the conventionally feminine role),
and the other the Sun Goddess (the conventionally masculine role).

We half-jokingly called this the butch-femme wine blessing…

Goddess Calls:
SG:
I am She who shone forth from the Dark of Night,
When time was begun.
Lady of the Sea, join Me,
And let all things be formed of Our union.
Thou who art called Artemis, Hecate, Cerridwen, Isis.
Giver of love, protection, and the joy of life,
Goddess of the Earth, Moon and Sea,
Ruler of the Night,
Mistress of Magic, Keeper of the Mysteries.
Ascend to Me on bright and silvered wing.
For lo, I receive these gifts of Thee:
Life, and love, and gifts from the Sea.
I am the Sun, the Sun that calleth Thee.
I am the arching Sky that covers Thee.
Come unto Me, my Lady, come unto Me,
And be welcome.
Hail, and blessed be.

MG:
I am She who rose from the depths of the Sea,
When time was begun.
Lady of the Bright Sky, join Me,
And let all things be formed of Our union.
Thou who art called Athena, Bast, Sekhmet, Amaterasu.
Giver of strength, guidance, and the will of life,
Goddess of the Sun, Sky, and Winds,
Ruler of the Day,
Bringer of Justice and Voice of Truth.
Descend to Me on bright and golden wing.
For lo, I receive these gifts of Thee:
Life, and strength, and fullest ecstasy.
I am the Sea, the Sea that calleth Thee.
I am the waiting Earth that welcomes Thee.
Come unto Me, my Lady, come unto Me,
And be welcome.
Hail, and blessed be.

Wine Blessing:

MG anoints SG and hands her the athame.

MG:
Bright Lady, thou art the Sun.
Thy heat is radiant.
Warrior Maiden, Giver of the Law,
Here is the athame,
The Air and Fire are contained within it,
As are their powers.

SG anoints MG and hands her the chalice.

SG:
Dark Lady, thou art the Moon,
Giver of dreams and visions.
Wise One, Teacher of the Mysteries,
Here is the chalice,
The Earth and the Sea are contained within it,
As are their powers.

SG:
I am the spark of life,
The well of flame wherein dwells all power and potential.

MG:
And I am the primal matter,
The core of earth that gives shape and form to that power.

Both:
Neither one can work without the other.
One without the other is incomplete.

SG:
Mine are wisdom and knowledge, passion and pride.

MG:
And mine are love and dreams, silence and mystery.

Both:
To learn you must suffer,
To live you must be born,
To be born you must die.
The beginning, continuation and the end,
Over and over.

SG:
The Sun brings forth light,

MG:
And the Moon holds it in darkness.

SG:
As above,

MG:
So below.

SG: (Raises athame)
And as the athame is one half of our divine nature,

MG:
So the chalice is the other.

Both: (Athame into chalice)
And conjoined they be one in truth,
For it is in the Dance that Life is born,
In the balance that truth is found,
And there is no greater power in all the world
Than that of Love.

Fire Blessing

I will kindle this fire under the eyes of the Tuatha De Danann under the
eyes of Brigit daughter of the Dagda, under the eyes of Aedh the bright
one. Without fear, jealousy or malice of any kind to anyone under the sun,
but with the light of the Goddess to protect me.

Goddess of the sun, kindle within me a fire of generosity and love to all:
To my friends, my kindred, my foes and kindle within me a fire of bravery,
eloquence and generosity of truth, strength and wealth, of beauty, charm and
grace, so that I may inspire with my words. May this fire be blessed in the eyes
of the Ancient but ever-present Gods.

Dedication Items
FOR DEDICATION OF ITEMS

Pass item to be consecrated through the incense and say:

I dedicate this _________ for positive means. All negativity is removed from it
in any time and space.

Repeat this process through the three remaining elements.

Now lay item down on top of pentacle. Place your palms about 1″ over them, then
form a triangular opening with your hands. Imagine a silver orb in the opening
of your hands. Let it glow brighter and brighter. Raise the energy from your
body and gently push it out between your hands and into the silver orb. With
your mind, lower the orb onto the item and let it be encompassed. When the
energy dissipates, say:

By the Will of the Lord and Lady I have dedicated this _________.
May their blessings shine upon and through it always.
By the free will of all
And with harm to none
As I will
So shall it be done.

Home Blessings
HOME BLESSINGS

A home blessing meditation for charging a room:

Sit Straight with palms on lap, take deep breaths, relax, and move into a mental
space where you activate your intuitive senses. Imagine a cord of energy from
your spine connecting you to the Earth, and channel energy from the Earth
through it. Silently ask for divine protection, guidance, and blessing.

Direct your psychic sensing outward, and feel lines of force coming out of your
aura. Note where the strongest energy is (check out the floor, ceiling,
directions, etc.). Note spots that feel empty or dead, note places that feel
full alive, focus on where you are sitting and how you feel at that particular
spot.

Imagine a sphere of light and love energy at your heart, feel it pulsing outward
with every breath. Feel the radiance increase with every breath, feel your self
as a star, continue to breathe deeply and send out the energy, letting it
pulsate in the room. When ready, start making power sounds representing the love
and light you are channeling; use it to amplify the light you are weaving; and
fill the room with the energy. Then shift focus to sending a probe out into the
room, and note the differences in the quality of energy and how you feel about
it. Repeat if necessary, When done, feel the completeness of the work.

A room blessing involving elemental quarter invocations:

Face each direction (with arms out in appropriate elemental invoking gesture),
and say, while channeling and visualizing elemental power: – Powers of (say
direction), – Powers of (say corresponding element), – We great you, we honor
you, we welcome you here! – Watch over and bless and protect this place. After
each invocation, shape the energy into columns of light by sweeping ones arms
together until they are parallel and sweeping them up and down while channeling
and shaping the energy. When the energy is properly shaped, say so “mote it be.”

After you have done all four quarters, channel in spirit energy.

To return the energy to a more mellow state while energizing yourself, put your
hands out and take in a bit of the energy into your self from each direction,
going widdershins, hold hands to your heart and take in the energy (techniques
also exist for bringing it into a stone and retrieving it when needed).

House Blessing
HOUSE BLESSING

I just helped with a house blessing this weekend. My girlfriend is a rather new
pagan, and wanted my help as resident expert, or how to put the ritual. Here is
basically what I told her:

There are two ways (well, more or less) to do this – one is taking a new
place, that has not got your mark on it at all yet, and consecrating it, and
then filling it with yourself. The other is taking a place that you have lived
in a while and never consecrated. That, one assumes, is full of you already, but
may also contain things that are not you and that you do not want, as well.

Her place was the second type. This is my advice for the second type:

First – clean it. Not mystically, just good old ammonia, hot water, comet, etc.
Find a place for everything, throw out everything you don’t want anymore, or
give it away, or something. This does not mean the place has to be spotless. It
is YOUR place. Make it the way YOU want it.

Second – consider the arrangement of the house. Is everything set out the way
you want it? Are those curtains the ones you really LIKE in this room? Are your
pictures and thing up, and are they in pleasing places? If not, move them. Make
the place look as much like the image of the way home SHOULD look as possible.

Third – gather the stuff for a ritual cleansing. For this ritual, you need: a
blue candle, enough candles for every candleholder in the house, as many white
candles as your altar requires, your favorite incense, your favorite essential
oil(s), olive oil or
almond oil, a jar, a white handkerchief, four rocks, a stick (birch, or whatever
wood you happen to like), and flowers. The only part requiring preparing ahead
is filling the jar with the oil, adding a few drops of the essential oil(s),
closing the jar, and leaving it for a week to set.

Third – all this being done, it is time for the ritual cleansing. There are a
number of ways to do this, but the one Rachel preferred when I told her her
options was to make a broom out of flowers and a birch stick (blossom end down),
and sweep out the entire house, stem to stern, dusting off anything stressful
especially carefully. Carry the broom out the back door and toss the flowers
out, along with everything they are carrying away.
Fourth – on your way in, light the dark blue candle (you had grabbed it and
stuck it in your back pocket on your way out), and walk the perimeter of your
space. If you own the whole house, walk the boundaries of the property. If your
place is an apartment, follow the edges of the rooms. But you are drawing a ring
of fire around your boundaries, so that your cleaned house will stay clean. When
you have completed the circle, set the candle on a white handkerchief by the
front door to keep watch. Weight the corners of the handkerchief with four rocks
(one for each
corner) taken from someplace nearby.

Fifth – now the place is clean, and guarded. Now it is time to mark it as YOURS.
Light your favorite incense. Doesn’t matter WHAT your favorite incense is. What
matters is that YOU like it. Or if you prefer a potpourri burner, go with that.
Then light all the candles you bought for all the candleholders in the house,
and put on some music. (What music? Ask yourself? What have you got that feels
sacred or just
very YOU. If that happens to be aerosmith, well, it’s YOUR ritual.) Now that
you’ve done that, take the scented oil and mark every corner in the house, as
well as any place or object that it seems to you OUGHT to be marked.

Sixth: Recreate (or create) your altar. Anoint it with the scented oil, wave
incense over it, put everything on it in its place.

Seventh: Call whatever deities, wigits, watchtowers, elements, etc., that you
want watching over your house or present in it. Since you are erecting a temple
and setting up protections, you don’t dismiss them afterward, just offer them
food, drink, whatever they like.

Eight: Go eat & drink something yourself.

Ninth: It’s your house now. Now you have to live in it.

House Blessing 2
HOUSE BLESSING

My husband and I did a variation of this and Chris agrees that it worked so well
that people like to visit our house. It makes for a warm, happy, well protected
Pagan home. Enjoy.

Assemble:
1. Salt & Water
2. Incense (fire and air)
3. Milk & Honey
4. Oil (for anointing)
5. Wine (for offering)
6. Bells, Pots, Pans, Whistles, etc.

Cast a circle in the main room (living room) and after casting, visualize the
circle expanding to include the entire house. Call upon the spirits and energies
living in the house (or apartment).

Invite those who will be harmonious with the new household and its energies to
remain. Invite/ask those who will be happier elsewhere to depart. Release all
“energies” not compatible with the new household. (This may be expressed as a
“release” in order to unbind anything that may be stuck.)

Then call upon, greet, and invite ancestors, patron deities, and all harmonious
spirits and energies to dwell in the house as they please.

Gather up the pots, pans, and all the noise-makers. Go to each door and window,
not forgetting the fire-place and dog-door, making as much racket as humanly
possible–to shoo out anything unwanted. (This is hysterical fun, and also
raises lots of energy for the next important step.)

Go again throughout the house and at each portal (door, window, etc.) Sprinkle
salt-water and cense, saying:
“By the Elements I purify and charge this portal.”
Then anoint the portal with milk and honey, saying:
“By Milk and Honey I ensure prosperity and peace within this place.”
Finally, anoint the portal with oil, saying:
“With Oil I seal this portal and protect all within.”

At the front door a special prayer is said, asking the guardian deities (God &
Goddess) “to freely grant entry to all friends and loved ones, and to prevent
passage (turn aside) to any who would do harm.” Then, if it’s a house–pour
wine across the width of the threshold; if it’s an apartment anoint the
threshold with light touches of wine.

The house-holders then each take a sip of wine, leaving some as an offering to
the Gods, and the Circle should be closed. The remaining wine, milk, and honey
should be offered to the Gods. (In our case to the fruit tree and the oak tree
in our yard.)

Addenda: This is very effective if done as part of a house-warming party,
followed by much feasting. It has also been done very effectively by two
people. It only takes about 30 minutes to do a large house.

Do make certain to “ground” afterward, by closing the circle and by eating.
This ritual can “stir” up everybody and make the house feel full of “buzzy”
energy.

House Blessing 3
House Blessing

In the spirit of house blessings, and because I’m basically a kitchen witch at
heart, and like little projects over serious ritual, I offer some selections
gleaned from Cunningham’s The Magical Household. I’m typing these without
permission but with the hope that they’ll inspire you to pick up the Cunningham
book, because it’s wonderful stuph… :>

For the doorway:

Suspend over the door a fresh sprig of dill, tied with a blue cord (or red, if
you prefer), to prevent those who mean you harm from entering.

Cross two needles, and stick into or tie onto a corner of your doormat, to
prevent evil from entering.

Grind Dragon’s Blood herb into a powder and sprinkle it on door and window
sills, to protect your house from harm.

“Witch Bottles”

Powder some more Dragon’s Blood herb with a small quantity of sugar and salt,
and place in a small corked or screw-lidded bottle. Shake and seal with red wax,
then place it where it won’t be found (or at least not easily seen). This will
ensure harmony and peace within the house.

Place three new needles, three new pins, and three new nails in a glass jar.
Fill with salt and shake vigorously nine times. Seal with white wax and place in
kitchen cupboard where it will not be seen. This protects your food from
contamination.

Gather rosemary, along with several needles and pins, into a small glass jar
with a tight-fitting lid or cork. When full, pour in red wine and shake. Seal
with black or red wax, and place in an inconspicuous place in the apartment. If
you own your own house, bury this at the furthestmost corner of your property.
The book also adds this:
As you’re filling the jar, say these words…
“Pins, needles, rosemary, wine,
In this witch’s bottle of mine;
Guard against harm and enmity;
This is my will; so Mote it Be!”
Personally, I’m not hip on anything but, “Hey, Gods? It’s me again”, but I know,
I’m CONSIDERABLY less formal than most!

An Anti-Theft Sachet

Mix caraway, rosemary, juniper berries, and elder leaves or mistletoe, and place
into white square of cloth. Tie with white yarn and hang prominently. I’d assume
either at the place you think thieves are most likely to enter–this being an
anti-theft sachet–or at every entrance and doorway. This will require more
cloth and more herbs, but most of the above are fairly inexpensive.

Finally, on Moving Day itself:

Bring two things into the house first: a small amount of salt, half to be
scattered upon crossing the threshhold, and a small loaf of bread. Break the
bread into as many pieces as you have people moving in, with one extra piece for
the gods’ portion. Sprinkle a dash of salt on each piece; share, when you have a
moment. (I’d say have water on hand as well–at the very least, to clear the
salt!) Next, bring in an apple and do the same thing–Cunningham recommends a
fruit and cheese basket–I’d stick with just the apple and maybe a few slices of
cheddar, or something. Lastly, bring in a sturdy chair and place it either near
the apple and bread bits, or facing the door. This ensures that you will never
know poverty, for there is bread and salt, hunger, for there is fruit (and
cheese), and instability (for there’s your stable chair guarding the door. After
that, heave and lift until you’re moved in!

A Note: I think ritual is very important, and I do admire rituals I’ve picked up
here and those I’ve found on my own. In the long run, though, I know myself well
enough to think that if I have to wait for a certain day and have a certain robe
on, or need a special tool or altar lay-out, it’ll never happen. But I can put
my hands on needles, pins, wine and spices at virtually any time, and can easily
make up witch’s bottles for the shelves and cupboards, sachets for the windows,
and incenses for household protection and cleansing. These simple items can have
just as much power as just about any major ritual, and are sometimes easier to
“whip up” for the busy pagan… :>

Self-Bless
This ritual of self-blessing has been around for many years –
originally published by the Pagan Way. This version is taken from
Amber Wolfe’s “In the Shadow of the Shaman” because it is not as
Goddess oriented.

This version can be used by anyone, regardless of religious principle, because
it is easily adapted with the name of your own diety. The important thing is
that you are calling on your highest spiritual force to witness your
life/problems, and in calling attention to yourself, you are begining to take
charge and deal with the problems. There is a very real, very deep power in
this ritual, no matter how simply or elaborately it is performed, and it should
never be performed in fun or for show. Use it whenever the need is great – any
moon phase is permissible, although it was originally intended to be used at the
waxing moon. It will embue the celebrant with a sense of calm connectedness and
peace.

What follows is the text as Amber Wolfe has written it. Balance and blessings.

Ritual of Self-Blessing

You will need

a small votive candle and holder (white is always good, but use
color if you feel called to do that)
an incense stick, cone, or herbs (such as sage or thyme) to burn
a small container of water
a small container of salt

I find that a sugar and creamer set works very well for this. These
can be purchased quite reasonably and set aside just for this use.

This is a ritual which connects you to the deepest levels of healing.
It also connects you to the four elements and their energies. In this
way it is most helpful for dealing with the shamanic elemental
energies of Nature.

The candle represents the element of Fire
The incense or herbs represent Air
The container of water is Water
The container of salt is Earth.

Beyond that, these elements reflect your own needs.

The element of Fire reflects your relationships, protection, ideas and
achievements.

The element of Air reflects your creativity, spirituality, inspiration
and philosophies.

The element of Water reflects your emotions, intuition, dream states,
psychic gifts, and healing balance.

The element of Earth reflects your practicality, knowledge, sacred
wisdom, and growth.

Find a quiet time and place where you will not be disturbed. You may
make this as ceremonial or as informal as you choose.

Light the incense and take a few moments to consider the element of
Air. Consider the gifts that Air reflects in you.

Light the candle and take a few moments to consider the element of
Fire. Consider the gifts that Fire reflects in you.

Take a few moments to consider the element of water and how it
reflects in you.

Take a few moments to consider the element of Earth and how it
reflects in you.

Very gently, pour the water into the container of salt. If you are
using herbs as an incense, you may sprinkle a few in the water and
salt mixture.

Stir the salt and water with your fingers. Consider the blending of
elements that creates life itself. Consider the balance of elements
and their attributes in your life. Take a few moments to do this.

Facing the candle, dip your fingers in the water mixture and touch
your forehead (3rd eye area).

Say: “Bless me Mother, for I am your child.” (The original was
written for the Goddess as Mother. Another diety name can be
substituted here, or simply say “Spirit.”)

Now dip your fingers in the water mixture and touch the area around
your eyes carefully.

Say: “Bless my eyes that I may see you.”

Dip again and touch your nose.

Say: “Bless my nose that I may breathe your essence.”

Dip again and touch your ears.

Say: “Bless my ears that I may hear your wisdom.”

Dip again and touch your mouth.

Say: “Bless my mouth that I may speak your name.”

Dip again and touch your heart.

Say: “Bless my heart that I may feel your love.”

Dip again and touch your lower abdomen.

Say: “Bless my cauldron center that I may create harmony.”

Dip again and touch your feet.

Say: “Bless my feet that I may walk in balance.”

Dip again and rub your hands together.

Say: “Bless my hands that I may share your healing in my work.”

Take all the time you need to concentrate on the elements before you.
Focus your attention on the candle and visualize healing light flowing
into you. Feel strength emerging from deep inside yourself. Breathe
deeply and capture that moment. Connect with the source of strength
and healing.

When you feel you are finished, blow out the candle. I often save
these candles just for this ritual of self-blessing. If I am
extremely pressed for time, I simply light the candle and take a few
moments to connect with the energy of the ritual.

It is good to leave the incense burning if you can. Air is a
communicating element, and smoke is transformation. The incense
carries the messages of healing and strength to Spirit. If you have
used herbs, it is good to return the ashes to Nature. In this way, you
are grounding the energy, bringing the message and the transformation
to earth. Make sure the ashes are cold; then place them at the roots
of a tree or bush if possible. If not, place them in soil or sand.

The salt and water mixture can be used very effectively in several
ways. You may wash your gemstones or other stones in this. Crystals
love this, since their energy is so personally connected to yours.

You may save the mixture and dab a little on your third-eye area every
day for a few days, as a reminder. You may pour the mixture into your
bath for a gentle energizer. When the bathwater drains, visualize a
connection between yourself and the energies of Mother Ocean. You may
return the mixture to earth by pouring it on soil or sand. Remember,
plants don’t thrive in salt; so keep the mixture clear of plants. You
may sprinkle the mixture throughout your house to seal in positive
energies and protection.

Self Blessing 2
SELF BLESSING

Ed Fitch. From the early 1960’s

This should be performed at the New Moon or at other time of need. It is not to
be performed promiscuously.

May be used as a minor dedication or as a minor exorcism to banish any evil
influences which may have formed about the person.

Perform this ritual in a quiet place, free from distractions, and nude.

You will need the following:

Salt – about ¼ teaspoon.
Wine – about an ounce.
Water – about ½ oz.
Candle

The result is a feeling of peace and calm. It is desirable that the participant
bask in the afterglow so that she may meditate and understand that she has
called the attention to the Godhead to herself, asking to grow close to the
Godhead in both goals and wisdom.

When you are ready to begin, sprinkle the salt on the floor and stand on it.
Light the candle. Let the warmth of the candle be absorbed into your body. Mix
the water into the wine, meditating on your reasons for performing the self
blessing.

Bless me Mother, for I am your child.

Dip the fingers of your right hand into the mixed water/wine and anoint the
eyes.

Blessed be my eyes that I may see your path.

Anoint the nose.

Blessed be my nose, that I may breathe your essence.

Anoint the mouth.

Blessed be my mouth that I may speak of you.

Anoint the breast.

Blessed be my breast that I may be faithful in my work.

Anoint the loins.

Blessed be my loins, which bring forth the life of men and
women as you have brought forth all creation.

Anoint the feet.

Blessed be my feet, that I may walk in your ways.

Remain and meditate for a while.

Sunset Blessing
SUNSET BLESSING

Upon the sea and to the West
head O’ ancient one to your rest.
From time out of mind you’ve taken this quest,
to rise again a marrow blessed.
But this day is over and night’s begun
farewell to thee O’ setting sun.

With souls departed on your ship,
they travel West their final trip,
Into the other world they go to rest,
may this song I sing see them three times blessed.
In colors orange, pink and red,
I say farewell to my beloved dead.

All that’s done is in the past,
never forgotten, but to last.
To begin anew like the Spring,
as blessings in the songs I sing.
So depart thee now into the sea,
and in my memories always be.

The Earth is Gaia
The Earth is Gaia

The Earth is Gaia
Living, breathing, growing
Sentient, conscious, spiritual
In pain

Gaia is my Goddess, my Mother
The soil beneath my feet
The waters that flow and are still
The wind in the trees
The myraid beings that share my home

I am Gaia too
A sentient, spiritual agent in “Gaia-unfolding”
I am here to love, to nurture,
To feel person- and planet-pain, and to heal.

So may it be

Seed Blessing
TO BLESS SEEDS AND BULBS

Place them on the Pentacle, raise it up saying:

“Mother of us all, Lady fair,
Bless these seed of life and love
Give to them a beauty rare
Filled with fragrance from above.
In moist, warm soil of earth
They will go in honor of Thee
Dearest Mother, Queen of Birth
In thy name, they’ll blessed be.

And every day walk through the garden thinking of the Goddess and loving the
plants. The plants will be blessed with abundance.

Wine Blessing
Wine Blessing

Male: The male holds the power and is the reservoir of power.

Female: The female taps the power in him and channels it.

Both: Neither one can work without the other; one without the other is
incomplete.

Male: The god is a god of life and death.

Female: The goddess is of birth and renewal.

Both: To learn you must struggle, to live you must be born, to be born you must
die; the beginning, the continuation and the end, over and over and over.

Male: The sun gives forth light.

Female: The moon holds it in darkness.

Male: As above

Female: So below

Male: As the athame is to the male.

Female: So the chalice is to the female.

Both: And together joined they are one in truth, for there is no greater power
in all the world than that of a man and woman joined in the bonds of love.

A wine blessing

A Wine Blessing

The grape on the vine has been picked and fermented
And soon the vine will wither and sleep
We have bottled it’s sweet juice for the winter ahead
But tonight we shall drink of its warmth
As we drink lets us always remember
The eternal cycle of life, death and rebirth
For soon He will die
And soon She will weep
And this fruit shall have to live til the Spring
Emerges in all her glory and brings with her sweet warmth
Til then we must remember Her and our own earth bodies
With the ability to bring forth new life should we wish
An empowerment by the Goddess
A gift to her children
To show them the beauty of life.
And now, Great Goddess, bless this wine
So your children may taste of your wisdom
